West Beach, Whitstable: Sunset Views and Rustic Charm

West Beach in Whitstable is quieter and more rustic than the town centre. Ideal for peaceful sunsets, beach walks and watching local boats drift by on the horizon.

Head to West Beach to avoid the crowds. This shingle beach is less busy than Whitstable Beach Front but still offers beautiful views. This is mostly a residential area along the seafront. The many eateries including pubs and restaurants will leave you full. West Beach Tennis courts are located along the small promenade. Its close proximity to Whitstable town centre and Whitstable Harbour makes it very convenient

One of the most well-known monuments in Whitstable is The Old Neptune, which is situated directly on the shore. This little bar offers breathtaking views of the sea, especially at sunset, and is located literally on the waterfront. It’s a terrific place to watch the waves break against the coast while sipping a pint of the local brew or eating fish and chips.

Dogs can be seen frequently walking along the promenade. A leisurely walk along the pebble beach will take you far into the neighbouring town of Seasalter.

Oysters

Whitstable has been gathering oysters since the Roman era. Whitstable’s oyster tradition is celebrated with the Whitstable Oyster Festival, which takes place every summer and serves fresh oysters straight from the sea. The Whitstable Oyster Company is one of the seafood merchants and eateries along the coast where you can sample this regional speciality.
