Littlestone Beach: Peaceful Shoreline with Historic Golf Links

Quiet and family-friendly, Littlestone Beach features gentle shingle banks, coastal views, and a historic golf course which is perfect for a relaxing coastal escape.

Littlestone Beach is located in Littlestone-on-Sea. It is an alternative to the busier beaches in Kent because of its calm and serene nature. It is renowned for its broad, shingle beach, laid-back vibe, and closeness to historical and natural landmarks. Although Littlestone Beach is mostly a shingle beach, large sections of wet sand and tidal pools may be seen during low tide. This makes plenty of room for leisurely strolls, exploring the beach, or simply taking in the expansive view.

Long walks along the coast are perfect at Littlestone Beach, especially when the sand is exposed at low tide. You can stroll along the coast to the neighbouring Greatstone Beach or turn away and go towards Dungeness, which is well-known for its untamed shingle scenery and distinct nature reserve.

Attractions

One of Kent’s best golf courses, Littlestone Golf Club, is located just inland from the coastline. The course, which opened in 1888, is well-known for its links-style design and provides breathtaking views of the nearby coast.

History

Littlestone’s historical relationship to World War II is noteworthy. There are ruins of ancient pillboxes and other wartime buildings close to the shore, which served as part of the defences against a potential German invasion. The normally calm ambience of the beach is interestingly enhanced by the area’s extensive military history.
