One of Kent’s longest sandy beaches, Greatstone offers space to roam and panoramic views. Perfect for kite flying, coastal walks, and peaceful beach days.
Greatstone Beach is a broad, sandy beach that spreads for miles down the coast. The beach is perfect for beach activities, picnics, and sunbathing when low tide exposes even more sand. Even on bright days, the beach rarely seems crowded because of its large area.
Families with little children find Greatstone Beach particularly appealing due to its smooth sand and moderate descent into the ocean.
Land yachting, windsurfing, and kitesurfing are all popular sports at Greatstone Beach. There are local schools and equipment rental businesses.
Enjoy expansive views over the English Channel at Greatstone Beach. On a clear day, you can also see Dungeness, with the famous lighthouse and Dungeness Power Station in the background. Dungeness is well-known for its desolate, nearly lunar terrain.

The adjacent RSPB Dungeness Nature Reserve is a haven for birdwatchers, drawing in a diverse range of avian species. Particularly during the migratory season, the beach itself is a fantastic place to watch shorebirds including gulls, plovers, and oystercatchers.
A range of sand dunes that form part of the nearby conservation area border Greatstone Beach. In addition to offering wind protection, these Greatstone Dunes provide a natural home for a variety of plant and animal species.
