A Vibrant Weekend of Flavour, Crafts, and Community Spirit in the Heart of Sandwich
Spring arrived in style this year with the Sandwich Spring Market 2025, a lively celebration of local produce, artisan crafts, and incredible street food. From Friday, 21st March to Sunday, 23rd March, the Guildhall Forecourt in the heart of this historic Cinque Ports town was transformed into a bustling marketplace filled with colourful marquees, delicious aromas, and a fantastic community vibe. Whether you were after handmade gifts, mouth-watering snacks, or a little bit of everything, this event had it all!

A Food Lover’s Paradise
One of the biggest highlights of the market was the diverse selection of food stalls offering something for everyone. I made sure to try as much as possible (strictly for research, of course!) and discovered some absolute gems.
- Freshly baked sourdough bread from a charming bakery stall – perfectly crusty on the outside and soft inside, ideal for pairing with…
- The multiple cheese stalls feature everything from creamy Kentish brie to punchy aged cheddar.
- Hot Thai food bursting with fragrant spices – the pad Thai was a definite winner!
- Mexican burritos stuffed with tender, marinated meat and fresh guacamole – an absolute must-try.
- Sri Lankan street food, where I had a rich and flavoursome curry with coconut roti.
- Polish grilled sausage, smokey and perfectly seasoned, served with tangy mustard.
- Fudge stalls offer an endless variety of flavours – my personal favourite was the sea salt caramel!
- A salad and nut bar serving up fresh, crunchy goodness for those after something lighter.
- Sweet treats from the homemade bakery and cake stall, where I couldn’t resist a slice of sticky toffee cake.

Unique Finds & Handmade Treasures
Beyond the food, the market was a treasure trove of artisan crafts and handmade goods. There were stunning jewellery stalls, featuring everything from delicate necklaces and rings to chunky bangles. The clothing stalls showcased stylish hats and scarves, while others sold homemade soaps with soothing scents like lavender and honey. A personal favourite was a stall selling hand-painted china mugs – each one a work of art!
Even four-legged friends weren’t left out, with a specialist dog food stall offering gourmet treats for pets. Plus, several charity stalls were there, raising awareness and support for good causes.

Exploring Sandwich’s Historic Attractions
A trip to Sandwich isn’t complete without exploring its fascinating heritage. After filling up on delicious food and browsing the market, I took some time to wander through the town’s cobbled streets and historic sites. The Sandwich Guildhall Museum is also nearby, offering a deep dive into the town’s rich history.
For those who love nature, a peaceful stroll along the River Stour is a great way to unwind after the hustle and bustle of the market. If you’re a birdwatcher, the Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory is the perfect spot to learn about local wildlife and pick up maps for nearby marshland trails.

Final Thoughts
The Sandwich Spring Market 2025 was an unforgettable experience, blending delicious food, handcrafted goods, and a warm community atmosphere in one of Kent’s most picturesque towns. Whether you’re a foodie, a history lover, or just looking for a fantastic day out, this event has something for everyone. If you missed it this year, make sure to mark your calendar for next spring – trust me, you won’t want to miss it!
